Sunday’s Clothing Swap kicks off Environment Week in Okotoks

The Town of Okotoks has a variety of events on the calendar to mark Environment Week, which runs from June 1 to 7. 

Here’s a look at what’s taking place: 

• Clothing Swap – Sunday, June 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Environmental Education Centre 

Refresh your wardrobe the eco-friendly way. The swap saves money, reduces waste and gives clothes a second life. Donations will be accepted until May 31. 

• Bird Watching Walk – Monday, June 2, 2 to 3 p.m., Environmental Education Centre 

Join knowledgeable conservation educators and local historian Kathy Coutts for a free, family-friendly guided tour through the beautiful Sheep River Valley to explore the natural habitat of local bird species and uncover fascinating stories about the area’s rich natural and cultural history.  

• Water Wise Pop Up – Tuesday, June 3, noon to 3 p.m., Okotoks Municipal Centre plaza 

Join conservation educators for an event focused on protecting the quality of our water in Okotoks. Stop by the interactive booth to learn about irrigation system assessments, water rebate program, water conservation tips and more. 

• Charge Ahead: Exploring Urban Mobility – Wednesday, June 4, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Viking Rentals Centre 

Clean Air Day event will include electric vehicle and e-scooter demonstrations, a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new EV charging stations, tours of the Okotoks Transit bus and more. 

• Document Shredding Event – Saturday, June 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Okotoks Operations Centre 

Give your sensitive documents new life by getting them shredded and recycled. Shredding will be limited to three boxes per household. 

• Repair Café – Saturday, June 7, noon to 4 p.m., Viking Rentals Centre 

Keep those broken items out of the landfill by having them repaired. Accepted items include electronics, small appliances, smaller pieces of furniture, toys, clothing, housewares and more.
