SUNNYSIDE, Wash. – The Sunnyside City Council is considering allowing retail cannabis sales within city limits, and community members are encouraged to share their thoughts. 

The council discussed the potential change during its February 25 meeting, focusing on financial benefits such as increased tax revenue and job creation. Concerns about crime and youth access were also addressed. 

Council members plan to explore the issue further through subcommittees and community outreach. They aim to gather comprehensive input before making a final decision.

The public forum is scheduled for April 9, 2025, at the Community Center, 1521 S. 15th Street, Sunnyside. 

Sessions will be held at 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., with interpreting services available at the evening session.
