SUNY New Paltz offers workshop on how to build a cannabis business
August 21, 2025
Interested in getting involved in the cannabis business? SUNY New Paltz has you covered.
The university is introducing a new, completely online program through its School of Business. The course takes two to three hours to complete and covers everything from New York-specific cannabis regulation to understanding compliance and financial management. Registrants will have six months to complete the course, pass the exam at the end and receive a Credly badge. The badge can be shared on LinkedIn or other social media sites.
Lori Krzeminski, SUNY New Paltz’ School of Business director of business events and marketing is overseeing the workshop. She said there was a need for this level of education for potential cannabis entrepeneurs in the area.
“I was starting to look into the educational offerings and I realized that the majority of them were aimed at teaching someone how to be a budtender or a cultivation tech, entry-level positions,” Krzeminski said. “I realized that there was a gap that needed to be filled, and there really needed to be a program tailored to the business side of cannabis.”
Registration is open now for anyone interested with more information available on the business school’s website.
