Great early heat here on James Gunn’s Superman: Fandango is reporting that the Amazon Prime Early Access screenings for the film have become the ticket retailer’s best first-day advance tickets seller of 2025, outselling all other movies’ general first-day ticket sales year to date — including Disney/Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four: First Steps. By the way, these are tickets that Amazon Prime Members paid for, they aren’t free.
Prime early access tickets are available exclusively through Fandango. Early screenings for Superman will screen in select theaters on July 8 at 7 pm local time—three days before the film’s nationwide release in theaters and IMAX on July 11.
The Warner Bros DC Studios movie was voted one of the most anticipated summer movies per Fandango’s 2025 Moviegoing Trends & Insight Study of more than 5,000 moviegoers. Those polled also named star Nicholas Hoult’s upcoming role as Lex Luthor in Superman as one of the most anticipated new performances of 2025, in Fandango’s Most Anticipated Movies survey of more than 9,000 ticket buyers.

There’s buzz out there that Superman has a shot at a $100M-plus weekend opening when it hits screens, however, no tracking services, including the newly acquired The Quorum, have reported any figures.
Previous openings for Superman movies include Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman from 2016 at $166M, a record debut for Easter weekend. Snyder’s Man of Steel in 2013 opened to $116.6M, while his Justice League bowed to $93.8M
The best opening of 2025 belongs to another Warner Bros movie, the Legendary co-production of A Minecraft Movie with $162.7M.
To date in 2025, the best opening for a superhero comic-book movie goes to Disney/MCU’s Captain America: Brave New World ($88.8M 3-day). The previous massive breathless box office opening for a comic book movie was Disney/MCU’s Deadpool & Wolverine last July with $211.4M — a record for a R-rated movie.
