SWANZEY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – The Town of Swanzey has renewed its Community Power program through December 2027, locking in new electricity supply rates for residents and businesses while continuing its focus on renewable energy.

The program, first launched in 2023, allows participants to collectively purchase electricity at competitive and stable rates. The new fixed prices will take effect with customers’ December 2025 meter readings and remain in place for 24 months.

Under the new contract, Direct Energy will continue as Swanzey’s electricity supplier. The program offers four supply options:

  • Swanzey Basic at 11.220¢ per kilowatt-hour (kWh), the lowest-cost plan.

  • Swanzey Standard at 11.580¢/kWh, the default option with 10% voluntary renewable energy.

  • Swanzey 50 at 12.100¢/kWh, providing 50% renewable energy.

  • Swanzey 100 at 13.890¢/kWh, providing 100% renewable energy.

Current participants will be automatically enrolled at the new rates and do not need to take any action. Customers may switch between the program’s options or leave the program at any time without penalty.

Swanzey Community Power purchases an estimated 1,820 megawatt hours of electricity each year from New England-based renewable sources, avoiding more than 1.3 million pounds of carbon emissions annually.

The rates apply only to the supply portion of electric bills. Eversource will continue to manage delivery services, outages, and billing. Customers receiving assistance through the Electric Assistance Program will retain their benefits, and budget billing will continue for delivery charges.

Residents not currently enrolled may join the program at any time by visiting SwanzeyCommunityPower.com.
