Taylor Farms Acquires Equinox Growers To Expand Controlled-Environment Agriculture Footprint

March 27, 2026

Taylor Farms announced that it has acquired Equinox Growers, a state-of-the-art leafy greens greenhouse located in Louisa, Virginia, from Generate Capital. The transaction marks the company’s largest investment to date in controlled-environment agriculture and reinforces its strategy to expand supply capabilities and diversify production methods.

The facility is the largest commercial greenhouse in the Mid-Atlantic and utilizes advanced technology to produce a wide range of high-quality leafy greens. As part of the deal, Equinox Growers’ existing team will continue to manage operations while the facility becomes fully integrated into Taylor Farms’ broader product portfolio and cold-chain logistics network.

The acquisition is expected to enhance Taylor Farms’ ability to deliver fresher, locally grown produce to consumers across the Eastern United States. By combining Equinox Growers’ scale with its own distribution infrastructure, Taylor Farms aims to improve supply reliability and accessibility in a category experiencing strong consumer demand.

The controlled-environment agriculture lettuce segment has been expanding at approximately 25% year over year, driven by consumer preferences for freshness, consistency, and year-round availability. The company believes this transaction positions it to play a more significant role in a rapidly growing segment of the packaged salad market.

Taylor Farms, headquartered in Salinas, California, is a global producer of salads and fresh foods with operations across North America and Europe. The company continues to invest in innovation and supply chain capabilities to meet evolving consumer demand.
