Teen arrested for driving under influence of cannabis

Deputies arrested a Rochester teen Friday night after detecting the odor of cannabis during a roadside sobriety checkpoint in the town of Palmyra.

Alexander E. Anderson, 18, of Ward Street in Rochester, entered the checkpoint shortly before 11 p.m. on June 27. Deputies said there was a strong smell of burnt cannabis coming from Anderson’s vehicle. After conducting field sobriety tests, deputies determined Anderson was under the influence of drugs and placed him under arrest.

Anderson was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and released on appearance tickets. He is scheduled to answer the charge in Palmyra Town Court.
