People are freaking out after the dealer that listed Shaq’s Dodge Charger Hellcat says a teenager bought it using a Bitcoin. The kid, who hasn’t been identified for obvious reasons, is only 15, so he can’t even legally drive the modified Mopar muscle car, yet. We don’t think he should learn how to drive in it, either.
Michael Schumacher’s old Bugatti comes out to play.
There’s so much to unpack about this, like the fact the sale was announced on Effortless Motors’ Instagram account with a video of the delivery. The teenager does appear in the footage coming out of his parents’ rather spacious mansion.
In other words, the kid comes from money, which isn’t a shock. After all, how many 15-year-olds has about $100,000 lying around to buy a celebrity’s heavily modified muscle car?
We looked it up, and at the time this was written, one Bitcoin is worth about $104,000. Prices are somewhat volatile, so we’re not sure exactly how much it was when Effortless Motors took payment, but you get an approximate idea what the negotiated price for the muscle car was.
That’s an interesting detail after there was all kinds of controversy about claims how much Shaq sunk into the Hellcat. It’s a crazy custom build, that’s clear, but an influencer who drove the muscle car slowly through Effortless’ showroom claimed on camera it cost the retired NBA basketball player $1.4 million.
Immediately, people called him out for that and said if Shaq told the guy that figure, he was lying. We doubt he did and we have no idea where that amount even came from.
In the footage, the teenager smiles as he starts up the Hellcat and revs the supercharged Hemi V8. We hope he enjoys and impeccably cares for the celebrity-owned Mopar muscle car. A lot of people are surely jealous.
