Tesla Launches FSD Streaks: Is Self-Driving Software Being ‘Gamified?’

April 17, 2026

Tesla FSD is one of the key growth items for electric vehicle company Tesla Inc. Now operating as a subscription-only service, Tesla may be pushing for more users to use the self-driving platform.

As analysts and investors look to adjust future valuations for Tesla stock based on future growth of FSD and autonomous vehicles, Tesla could be using a new strategy to get drivers to use FSD more.

According to a report from TechCrunch, Tesla has rolled out its new self-driving app. The app not only makes it easier to subscribe to FSD, it also offers new statistics for customers.

Don’t Miss:

In the app, Tesla FSD owners can see exactly how often they are using the self-driving software and how many “streaks” they have achieved by using FSD multiple trips or days in a row.

This adds a “gamified element to the driver assistance software,” TechCrunch notes.

The more miles driven using FSD, the more data Tesla has to provide its use cases for autonomous vehicles and future fleets of self-driving vehicles.

The company also stands to benefit financially from more users having FSD with a $99 monthly subscription price.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk also stands to benefit from more users having FSD, with one of his components of his nearly $1 trillion pay package being hitting the 10 million FSD subscriber milestone by 2035. Switching to a subscription-only model may boost the FSD subscriber figures and help Musk come closer to the milestone already.

Gamifying the FSD experience could lead to Tesla owners using the self-driving platform more as they look to compete with others on streaks and share their stats on social media.

FSD has become so important for Tesla that the company also launched advertising on Facebook, a site it has traditionally distanced itself from, to advertise the subscription-only service.

Tesla’s latest strategy should be monitored to see if it can boost FSD subscription numbers and the rate of miles tracked by the company.
