Tesla Supercharging Q1 2026: Sessions Increased 26% to 53 Million
April 1, 2026
Q1 2026 was another strong quarter for the Tesla Supercharging network, marked by noticeable year-over-year growth and near-record usage.
Roughly 80,000 Stalls
The company reports opening roughly 2,500 Supercharging stalls globally in Q1 (up 19% year-over-year).
However, the net deployment is usually slightly lower (due to the removal of older dispensers, we believe). We will know the net deployment number shortly, as Tesla includes it in its quarterly reports.
The total number of Supercharging stalls at the end of 2025 was 77,682, which means that as of today, Tesla might operate 80,000 individual Supercharging stalls globally.
Tesla Supercharger Usage: Q1 2026
Global Tesla Supercharger usage in Q1 2026 was estimated at 1.8 terawatt-hours (TWh), up 22% year over year. It was the third consecutive quarter at 1.8 TWh, so we are now expecting a new record in Q2.
The number of charging sessions amounted to 53 million (up 26% year-over-year). That’s the second-highest result ever.
As always, we can use the numbers to estimate the average usage of the Tesla Supercharging network. The average amount of energy per charging session was 34.0 kWh (up from 33.3 kWh in Q1 2025).
At the same time, assuming 80,000 stalls (just an estimate, as the number changes during the period), the network’s average daily throughput per stall should be over 250 kWh (globally).
- Average session: 34.0 kWh
- Average daily throughput per stall: 250 kWh
- Average daily number of sessions per stall: 7.4
For reference, EVgo reported a throughput of 292 kWh per day per stall in Q4 2025. Electrify America reported an average daily throughput per charger of 370 kWh in 2025.
Additionally, assuming 80,000 stalls, we estimate that each charging stall was used about 7.4 times per day. The real number might be higher, as the company’s chart indicates strong utilization (though not a record like in the summer) and a record-low waiters’ share.
Separately, Tesla revealed a new Supercharger Global Energy Delivered chart, which indicates that usage is growing consistently since the network’s inception in 2012.
The year 2026 should be a record year, with more than 8 TWh of energy likely to be dispensed.
More data regarding the Supercharging network is expected to be included in the company’s quarterly report later this month.
Supercharge.info Stats
According to Supercharge.info, as of April 1, 2026, there are 80,018 Supercharging stalls installed at 8,502 sites globally (including 49 Superchargers for Business sites). That’s about 9.4 stalls per station on average.
Half of the Supercharging stalls are V3 dispensers:
- Urban Superchargers: 2,142 (2.7%)
- V2 Superchargers: 14,412 (18.0%)
- V3 Superchargers: 40,228 (50.3%)
- V4 Superchargers: 23,176 (29.0%)
About 70% of the stalls (56,006) and 60.3% of the sites (5,125) are available to non-Tesla EVs.
