Texas Rules Banning Smokable Cannabis Blocked Temporarily

Texas’ new hemp rules banning smokable cannabis are temporarily blocked, a state judge ruled Friday.

Judge Maya Guerra Gamble of the 459th district court halted the rules reinterpreting a .3% THC cap to include naturally occurring cannabinoid acids when measuring delta-9.

Guerra Gamble of Travis County granted the temporary restraining order during a virtual hearing. Her decision comes two weeks after the new rules took effect March 31.

State regulators, the industry’s lawyers argued, passed the new rules as an illegal workaround after Gov. Greg Abbott (R) vetoed a bill that would’ve banned THC consumable products last year.
