The 10 Best New Movies On Amazon Prime In March 2025

March 8, 2025

The amount of movies released each month on Amazon Prime is somewhat hampered by the fact that you need a sub-subscription to various outlets like AMC or Starz to watch them. But once you weed through all the extras, there’s actually quite an impressive array of movies available to Prime subscribers. And in March 2025, there are ten in particular I’d like to highlight, including: a recently released sequel that has quickly been immortalized by arthouse horror fans, a storm-chasing update of one of the most thrilling blockbusters of the 1990s and an Oscar-winning performance that offers a coming-of-age story like we’ve never seen before.

So what ten movies should you look out for this month? And what other films will be available to Amazon Prime subscribers? Below, I’ve listed my ten recommendations, along with plot descriptions, trailers and reasons why you should watch my picks. Then at the bottom of the article, you can find a full list of every single movie available on Amazon Prime in March 2025. Happy movie watching!

The 10 Best New Movies On Amazon Prime In March 2025

Smile 2 (2024)

I’ll be honest: back when I first saw the trailer for director Parker Finn’s original Smile, the movie seemed nothing more to be than a subpar-arthouse-horror-movie-of-the-month. Little did I know that horror fans everywhere would embrace what would turn out to be an unsettling exploration of trauma and psychological torment—or, for that matter, that they would love Finn’s sequel even more. Smile 2 follows a new protagonist this time: pop star Skye Riley (Naomi Scott). As she prepares for a massive world tour, she begins to experience terrifying visions of people with unnatural, haunting smiles. As the phenomena intensify, Skye realizes she may have been marked by the same curse that claimed so many lives before her. With her grasp on reality unraveling and her career hanging in the balance, Skye must confront her troubling past while racing to uncover the source of the curse before it consumes her completely. Scott delivers a standout performance as Skye, embodying the loneliness, the paranoia, the isolation that comes with both trauma and life in the public eye.

Smile 2 will be available to stream on Amazon Prime starting March 4, 2025.

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016)

Cult classics often come in the form of horror flicks, thrillers and B movies. But Andy Samberg, the famous Saturday Night Live cast member who heads the comedic band The Lonely Island, has somehow made two cult comedy classics in the 21st century: Hot Rod, released in 2007, and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, released in 2016 and now available on Amazone Prime. This satire of pop culture obsession follows our central star Conner4Real (Andy Samberg), a former boy band member turned wildly successful solo artist who finds his career in freefall after his much-hyped second album flops. Desperate to maintain his fame, Conner embarks on a disastrous publicity tour filled with increasingly bizarre attempts to stay relevant. As his entourage and former bandmates (Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, the two other members of The Lonely Island) question his decisions, Conner is forced to confront the shallow culture of celebrity and his own insecurities. Directed by Schaffer and Taccone, this sharp mockumentary packs a hilarious soundtrack that includes “hits” like “I’m So Humble,” “Finest Girl (Bin Laden Song)” and “Equal Rights,” which all cleverly parody modern pop trends.

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping will be available to stream on Amazon Prime starting March 16, 2025.

Twisters (2024)

The massive improvements in visual effect technology since 1996, when the original Twister hit theaters, laid the foundation for its sequel, Twisters, to up the tornado ante in 2024. From multi-vortex tornadoes to massive wedge storms, this 2024 film treats the weather itself like a character—unpredictable, destructive and, sometimes, awe-inspiring. When a series of unprecedented superstorms begin to form across the United States, storm chaser Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones) is drawn back into the dangerous world she once left behind. Teaming up with Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), a thrill-seeking social media influencer who livestreams extreme weather events, and Javi (Anthony Ramos), a former co-worker who survived a deadly tornado that killed some of their teammates, Kate races against time to understand and predict the deadly tornado outbreak. While director Lee Isaac Chung’s Twisters is full of subtle nods to the original (fans will recognize echoes of Twister’s reckless spirit and love for storm-chasing tech), the film resists the urge to simply rehash familiar beats, resulting in a very entertaining watch that will reward both old and new fans.

Twisters will be available to stream on Amazon Prime starting March 18, 2025.

Rumble Fish (1983)

Francis Ford Coppola’s illustrious career is filled with all-time greats, from the Godfather films to The Conversation to Apocalypse Now. But his filmography containing over 20 films is laden with sleeper greats, including the Matt Dillon-fronted coming-of-age drama Rumble Fish. In a decaying industrial town, Rusty James (Dillon) struggles to live up to the reputation of his older brother, the legendary gang leader known only as The Motorcycle Boy (Mickey Rourke). Adrift in a life of street fights and restless nights, Rusty James clings to a sense of purpose in a world where violence feels inevitable. But when his disillusioned and world-weary older brother returns to town, Rusty James is forced to confront the reality of his own path. Coppola’s bold, experimental adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s novel uses art cinema born from European influences to create a dreamlike, almost mythic aesthetic that poetically captures the raw energy of American youth culture and serves as an abstract meditation on time and memory.

Rumble Fish will be available to stream on Amazon Prime starting March 1, 2025.

Poor Things (2023)

One of these days, Yorgos Lanthimos will received his much-deserved and much-belated Oscar. He’s been nominated five thus far at the Academy Awards for movies like The Lobster, The Favourite and Poor Things—his most recent and best film, and the one now available on Amazon Prime. After her untimely death, Bella Baxter (Emma Stone, in an Oscar-winning performance) is brought back to life through a radical scientific experiment conducted by the eccentric Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). With a childlike mind inside a fully grown body, Bella begins an unorthodox journey of self-discovery, craving experiences and knowledge in a world that feels both wondrous and oppressive. As she ventures from Baxter’s laboratory into high society and beyond, Bella’s thirst for independence clashes with the expectations placed on her by the men around her—including the opportunistic lawyer Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo). It is truly incredible to witness Stone chart Bella’s evolution from a stumbling, childlike curiosity to a fully self-possessed woman who reclaims her body, desires and voice with fearless conviction.

Poor Things will be available to stream on Amazon Prime starting March 7, 2025.

Blue Velvet (1986)

No celebrity death has hit me harder than David Lynch’s. He’s a director I’ve loved for years, with films like Mulholland Drive, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and Eraserhead counting amongst my absolute favorites. And for many people, the first and most perfect entry into Lynch’s bizarre, unmatched dreamy aesthetic would be Blue Velvet. When college student Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan) returns to his quiet hometown after his father suffers a stroke, he discovers a severed human ear in a field. His detective-like curiosity leads him into the town’s dark underbelly, where he becomes entangled with troubled nightclub singer Dorothy Vallens (Isabella Rossellini) and her violent connection to the sadistic Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper). As Jeffrey’s amateur investigation spirals deeper into danger, he’s forced to confront the unsettling coexistence of idyllic suburban life and brutal violence lurking beneath the surface. Lynch’s camera constantly contrasts these two realities, emphasizing the fragile membrane between normalcy and nightmare that defines Jeffrey’s journey and ultimate realizations about the world and its “American Dream” advertising.

Blue Velvet will be available to stream on Amazon Prime starting March 1, 2025.

Transformers One (2024)

There have, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, been lots of Transformers movies released since the $700 million box office success of Michael Bay’s original adaptation in 2007. But many consider Transformers One, an animated update that serves as a prequel of sorts, to be the truest to the Transformers mythology. Set long before the Autobots and Decepticons became enemies, this 2024 release from director Josh Cooley explores the origins of Optimus Prime (voiced by Chris Hemsworth) and Megatron (Brian Tyree Henry) on their home planet of Cybertron. Once close friends, the two robots find themselves on opposite sides of a growing ideological divide that will shape the future of their world. As the struggle for power intensifies, both Optimus and Megatron must reckon with the choices that will ultimately turn them into lifelong rivals. Beyond Hemsworth and Henry, the all-star voice cast includes: Scarlett Johansson as Elita-1, Orion’s trusted confidant and equal; Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, the comedic relief; Steve Buscemi as Wheeljack, the eccentric engineer; Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion, the wise mentor; and Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, whose leadership shapes Cybertron’s fate.

Transformers One will be available to stream on Amazon Prime starting March 25, 2025.

The Night of the Hunter (1955)

There’s an ongoing debate about the greatest director ever to only direct one film. Jean Vigo (L’Atalante) Barbara Loden (Wanda) immediately come to mind, and recent additions include Hu Bo (An Elephant Sitting Still) and Tim Roth (The War Zone). But for many, including myself, there’s no true debate when Charles Laughton’s The Night of the Hunter is part of the conversation. The story starts with a desperate man who, after committing a robbery, hides the stolen money with his young children before being captured by police. In prison, his cellmate, a self-proclaimed preacher named Harry Powell (Robert Mitchum), learns about the hidden fortune. Following his release, Powell tracks down the children and marries their unsuspecting mother, using his charm and religious facade to manipulate the family. As the children realize his true intentions, they embark on a dangerous escape, pursued relentlessly by Powell across rural America. Laughton frames much of the film through the perspective of the children, forcing them to become heroes far too soon as they navigate a landscape that feels too big and too dark—and too indifferent to their survival. There truly isn’t any other film quite like this masterpiece.

The Night of the Hunter will be available to stream on Amazon Prime starting March 1, 2025.

Fast X (2023)

What can I say: I’m a huge Fast & Furious fan. I have been since the beginning, back in 2001 when you could rent The Fast and the Furious on DVD. And my fandom has only intensified as the franchise has embraced its endearing cast of characters as larger-than-life superheroes, transforming them from petty crooks to international spies—and the latest film in the series is one of the best entries yet. Louis Leterrier’s Fast X follows Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) as he faces his most personal threat yet: Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), a vengeful son of a past enemy, Hernan, who emerges with a plan to destroy everything Dom holds dear. Fueled by years of resentment, Dante targets Dom’s family and closest friends, forcing the crew to scatter across the globe in a desperate bid to survive. The star of this particular show is Momoa, who injects Fast X with a fresh burst of energy, playing a flamboyant, unpredictable villain who treats revenge as performance art. But you can, of course, expect great performances from all the usual suspects: old favorites like Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang and Ludacris, as well as more recent additions like Dwayne Johnson, John Cena, Charlize Theron and Brie Larson.

Fast X will be available to stream on Amazon Prime starting March 15, 2025.

Yours, Mine & Ours (1968)

People might be most familiar with the Dennis Quaid/Rene Russo take on Yours, Mine & Ours, which released in 2005 to moderate success. But as a child, I remember watching the Henry Fonda/Lucille Ball original on my great-grandfather’s television. So I just can’t help it: it fills me with joy to even think about this movie from director Melville Shavelson. The story follows widowed Navy officer Frank Beardsley (Henry Fonda) and widowed nurse Helen North (Lucille Ball), who fall in love and decide to get married—all despite the logistical chaos of combining their two large families: Frank has 10 children, and Helen has eight. As the newly blended family adjusts to life under one roof, the Beardsleys face everything from sibling rivalries and household meltdowns to the challenges of balancing military discipline with chaotic domestic life. Ball, known for her unparalleled comedic timing, brings her signature wit and warmth to Helen, while Fonda plays Frank with a gentle humor and understated charm, all in service of promoting the film’s post-war optimism about blending families and building new lives.

Yours, Mine & Ours will be available to stream on Amazon Prime starting March 1, 2025.
