‘The Accountant 2’ Sets Streaming Release Date Following $101 Million Theatrical Run

June 2, 2025

The Accountant 2 recently wrapped up its sixth full weekend in theaters, and the sequel starring Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal just got the streaming update fans have been waiting for. After grossing just over $100 million at the domestic box office, Prime Video has announced that The Accountant 2 will begin streaming on the platform later this week on June 5. The film has been extremely well-received by critics and audiences thus far, earning a “certified fresh” 76% on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, as well as a “verified hot” rating of 92% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. The sequel to the 2016 action thriller was written by Bill Dubuque and directed by Gavin O’Connor, both of whom worked on the original. Cynthia Addai-Robinson and J.K. Simmons also star in The Accountant 2.

The original Accountant movie, which also stars Anna Kendrick, follows Affleck’s Christian Wolff, a math savant who finds himself in hot water after uncooking the books for the wrong client. He’s then hunted down by his brother, Braxton (Bernthal), and the two come face-to-face in a clash that leads them to make amends by the end of the film. The sequel, which did not return Kendrick’s Dana Cummings, sees the two team up to solve Ray King’s murder. The Accountant 2 is a pulse-pounding action thriller that’s ultimately a timeless story about brotherhood and friendship. The film has been playing in theaters since the weekend of April 25, and fans who want to catch it on the big screen should do so now before it leaves theaters forever. The Accountant 2 is the third-highest-grossing Amazon movie ever, behindRed One and The Beekeeper.

Ben Affleck has been tapped to star alongside Matt Damon in The Rip, the police procedural that will begin streaming on Netflix on January 16, 2026. He’s also been tapped to star in and direct Animals, an upcoming crime thriller with Steven Yeun and Kerry Washington, and he’ll be back as Christian Wolff for an Accountant threequel. As for Bernthal, he’s been set for a role in The Odyssey, the next film from Christopher Nolan that’s currently filming ahead of its 2026 release date, and he’ll reprise his role as Frank Castle in a Punisher spin-off series coming to Disney+ next year.

The Accountant 2 will begin streaming on Prime Video on June 5. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the film.
