The Girl’s Joint brings style, education and community to Cleveland’s cannabis scene
October 29, 2025
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Two Cleveland women are redefining what a smoke shop can look like. When Judie Vegh and Mandi Cavano open The Girl’s Joint November 7, they’re inviting shoppers into a bright, stylish space that feels more like a boutique than a head shop.
“It all really started with Mandi and I being cannabis users,” Vegh said. “Mandi for medical purposes, me for recreational. We both wanted a place where we could get cute cannabis accessories. We don’t find that in the vape and smoke shops that are opening up around the city.”
The result is The Girl’s Joint, a women-owned retail space in Gordon Square dedicated to cannabis culture, education, and empowerment. They sell everything you need to support cannabis use, but not cannabis.
Vegh and Mandi have curated an inventory that’s anything but typical.

“Eighty-five percent of our inventory comes from woman-owned or minority-owned businesses,” Vegh said. “There are so many incredible makers out there, not just bongs and pipes, but beautiful lighters, ashtrays, grinders, and décor.”
One of Cavano’s favorite items, for example, is a grinder shaped like a dainty cake.
“That’s not something you’re going to find everywhere,” she said.
Shoppers will find everything from playful joint wands to elegant “vase-first, bong-second” glassware to vintage decanters that can be turned into custom pieces during Build-Your-Own-Bong workshops.
There will also be books from independent publishers, including “Cannabis Cuisine,” “The Feminist Weed Farmer,” “Once Upon a High Time: Weedy Fairytales,” and even “The Stoner Babe’s Coloring Book.”
Gone, they say, are the days of hiding your paraphernalia.
“We wanted to create a space where cannabis accessories are something you can display proudly,” said Vegh.
Education and community are key elements of the business. The Girl’s Joint will host classes and events ranging from cannabis cooking lessons — how to make cannabutter and gummies — to creative workshops and collaborations with local artists.
They also plan to offer Marijuana 101 sessions for “curious but closeted” people who want to learn the basics like dosing, strains, and terminology in a safe, nonjudgmental setting.
“We want to complement the dispensaries,” Vegh said. “We’re not selling cannabis. We’re helping people feel confident about using it responsibly.”
A women’s comedy night series and local art pop-ups are also in the works.
For so long, cannabis culture was painted as the ‘stoner stereotype,’” Cavano said. “We want to show that there’s more to it. Cannabis can be beautiful, creative, and community centered.”
The Girl’s Joint will celebrate its grand opening Friday, Nov. 7 to Sunday, Nov. 9. The main event will be Saturday, Nov. 8 with giveaways, music, discounts, and plenty of (legal) treats. Regular store hours are planned for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with one or two days closed each week.
The Girl’s Joint is at 6505 Detroit Ave., Cleveland.
