Amazon has ordered its latest YA turn.

The streamer has handed a greenlight to a series adaptation of The Probability of Miracles based on Wendy Wunder’s eponymous novel.

It comes after Prime Video enjoyed success with other YA series such as The Summer I Turned Pretty, which wrapped its third and final season earlier this summer.

The eight-part romance series comes from Katie Lovejoy, who wrote To All the Boys: Always and Forever. It is produced by Alloy Entertainment, the company behind shows such as Gossip Girl, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Amazon MGM Studios.

The series follows Campbell Cooper, an acerbic teenager dying of cancer who, after receiving a terminal diagnosis, moves with her mom and younger sister to the town of Promise, where miracles are said to happen. Cam, however, doesn’t believe in miracles. How could she when science says she’s definitely going to die? But as she spends her summer in this quirky, mystical town, she discovers that miracles — and falling in love — are still possible, no matter how improbable they may seem.

Lovejoy also wrote the Netflix romantic drama Love at First Sight, starring Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy, and recently completed The 99ers for Netflix, about the meteoric rise of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team in the 1990s. She has also worked on Miranda’s Rights for NBC and Dead Inside for The CW.

Lovejoy will serve as showrunner and will exec produce alongside Alloy’s Leslie Morgenstein.

It marks one of the first series orders for Amazon’s new TV boss Peter Friedlander.

“I fell in love with Wendy Wunder’s beautiful novel in 2011, one year into my fledgling screenwriting career,” said Lovejoy. “The fact that now, 14 years later, I get to bring Cam’s journey to life onscreen is nothing short of a miracle.  I’m so grateful to my partners at Alloy, Warner Bros. Television, and Amazon for believing in this story as much as I do.”

“Katie brings a rare combination of emotional depth, sharp humor,” added Friedlander, Global Head of Television, Amazon MGM Studios. “The Probability of Miracles is a beautiful and uplifting story about love, resilience, and the magic that can emerge even in life’s most challenging moments. We’re thrilled to partner with Warner Bros. Television and Alloy Entertainment to bring Wendy Wunder’s beloved YA novel to our global Prime Video audience.”

“Wendy wrote an incredibly moving, funny and bold novel that Alloy was privileged to be a part of bringing to life,” said Leslie Morgenstein, President and Chief Creative Officer, Alloy Entertainment.  “In Katie’s hands it will be a deeply romantic, funny, and moving series.”

Lovejoy is repped by CAA, Kaplan Perrone Entertainment, and Myman Greenspan Fineman Fox Rosenberg & Light.
