When the press release for the new Bezos-backed Slate Truck landed on our desks claiming ‘unlimited personalization’ options in American, we were naturally sceptical. But then, we loaded up the Slate website and found the aptly-named but still wrongly spelled ‘Personalization’ tab. Turns out it’s absolutely fantastic.

Seriously, we hope you haven’t got anything important to do for the rest of the day, because if you click this link to access the configurator, you’ll soon be lost in a world of wraps, decals, alloy wheel options and accessories.

Heck, there are 25 different ‘starter packs’ that you can then customise, or you can just pick the ‘Blank Slate’ (geddit?) and then pen pretty much anything you want. Start by choosing your body style – pickup, SUV or fastback SUV – and then move on to the fancy colours, the lift kits and the interior trim.

And remember, this is designed to be a bargain basement truck with an entry price of below $20,000 after local EV incentives. That means Slate will need to make some extra cash from personalisation options, but even so it reckons wraps will start at around $500. “Go wild,” it says on the website. “Or not. It’s up to you.”

We’re also told that it’s meant to be a bit of a DIY build, so you’ll be able to order the accessories and install them yourself. Even the transformation to a five-seat SUV can be done at home and at any point after you’ve bought the pickup. Perhaps we’d start by seeing how easy it is to attach something like the Bluetooth speaker mount, though.

So come on then, have a look at Team TG’s glorious designs up above and then let us know in the comments which one you’d be ordering. Surely the Slate Auto Truck by Peugeot Sport design will find some fans on these pages?
