There’s a New Amazon Prime Membership for Gen Z That’s Half Price

June 17, 2025

If you shop online (and if you’re reading PCMag, you probably do), we don’t have to tell you how much value Amazon Prime delivers. The mega-retailer’s annual subscription gives you access to a whole host of benefits, starting with free shipping as fast as same-day on eligible items, as well as Amazon Day delivery, exclusive on-site discounts, Whole Foods savings, streaming entertainment through Prime Video and Prime Music, free games in Prime Gaming… we’d be here all day. You can read our exhaustive rundown of Amazon Prime to learn more.

The $14.99 monthly fee can be tough to swallow, though, especially for a young person just starting their journey into adulthood. That’s why the company is re-debuting Prime for Young Adults, a discounted membership for shoppers 18-24 years old. Not only do they get all the benefits of Amazon Prime for half the cost (just $7.99 a month, or $69 a year), but this membership also delivers 5% cash back on beauty, apparel, electronics, and personal care purchases. Other regular Prime benefits that appeal to Gen Z include a free Grubhub+ subscription with $0 delivery fees, lower service fees, and more savings, along with gas discounts and more.

One of the biggest reasons to pick up a Prime membership is to take advantage of Amazon’s annual Prime Day sales. The next one is coming up in July—you can read all about it here—and promises some of the biggest discounts of the year on tens of thousands of items across every product category. Even cooler, that 5% Prime for Young Adults cash back offer on beauty, apparel, electronics, and personal care will be 10% cash back during Prime Day. And while regular grown-up Prime lets you try the service for a month for free, Prime for Young Adults comes with a six month no-risk free trial.
