WEST HARTFORD, CT — For the first time since the West Hartford Town Council approved permanent regulations governing cannabis establishments in town, a new one will open.

Fine Fettle, a retail medical/recreational cannabis dealer with 16 dispensaries in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Georgia, is opening up a new site Friday, April 18, at 1232 Farmington Ave., West Hartford.

The soft-opening will precede a week full of events the following week to commemorate the new cannabis operation.

According to the company, the West Hartford store will “provide premium cannabis products right in the heart of one of Connecticut’s most dynamic and thriving towns.”

In addition to in-store sales, Fine Fettle also offers delivery services nearby.

According to Fine Fettle, West Hartford’s site will deliver products to Avon, Bloomfield, East Granby, East Hartford, Farmington, Hartford, New Britain, Newington, Simsbury, West Hartford, Wethersfield, Windsor, and Windsor Locks.

A grand opening/ribbon-cutting celebration is planned for Friday, April 25, at 9:30 a.m., with additional grand opening specials ongoing Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, according to Fine Fettle.

Currently, West Hartford has two other cannabis operations — BUDR Cannabis, which opened in July 2023, and Sweetspot Farms, which opened in February 2024.

Both of those operations opened when West Hartford employed temporary regulations on cannabis retailers in town.

Last May 28, the West Hartford Town Council voted 6-3 along party lines (Democrats were in favor, Republicans opposed) to approve permanent rules regarding cannabis retailers in West Hartford.

Republicans, at the time, claimed cannabis was “a nuisance” in town due to the smell and supported limiting the number of retailers in town to the two prior sites.

The new rules, however, increase that amount to three, allowing for Fine Fettle to open in West Hartford.

Democrats said there are benefits to cannabis, both medically and as far as tax revenue is concerned.
