AUSTIN, Texas — Travis County deputies are at the scene of a fatal crash on SH 130 near the Tesla Gigafactory.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office first reported the crash at around 4:50 a.m. Wednesday morning. Officials say the crash happened on the southbound side of the highway at the Tesla Road ramp.

The Tesla Road ramp is closed, the Sheriff’s Office says. TxDOT reports that all southbound lanes of SH 130 in the area are closed as well.

Drivers are told to expect delays in the area while officials work the scene.

The area near the Tesla Road exit has a history of deadly crashes.

Two people died in September 2025 in a high-speed crash on the road. In March 2024, three people died after a car plummeted from SH 130 onto Tesla Road.
