Two charged over £24m cannabis haul
Greater Manchester PoliceTwo men have been charged after police found cannabis with an estimated street value of £24m in what is believed to be one of the largest seizures of the illegal drug in the UK.
Two tonnes of the class B substance were found in sacks at a farm property in Blackrod, Bolton, on Friday, Greater Manchester Police said.
Musa Kala, 35, of Dunbar Drive, and Raheem Latif, 27, of Leverhulme Avenue, both in Bolton, have been charged with conspiracy to supply cannabis.
They have been remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Det Supt Joe Harrop said the seizure “removes a major source of harm, disrupts criminal networks and helps make neighbourhoods safer”.
