LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Medical Cannabis Commission met again on Tuesday, with one goal being either to approve or deny cultivator licenses.

They ultimately rejected one appeal, and denied two other licenses selected by the lottery. One cultivator applicant voiced his frustration at the system, saying the entire selection process wasn’t transparent enough.

“And also the fact that nobody involved in the grading of these applications has any real-world cannabis experience is troubling,” said Josh Egle, cultivator applicant. “It’s easy these days to piece together a quality application, but without cannabis experience, it’s tough to know if applicants can do what they say they’re going to do.“

During the meeting, the commission also invited manufacturers of CBD in Nebraska and THC producers in other states to testify as to how they make their products.

Manufacturers said the commission making money is going to be very difficult with the current system of regulations in place.

The commission has not timetable on when license applications will be open for manufacturers, distributers or transporters.
