Two Georgia men have been accused of posing as Amazon delivery drivers when they allegedly stormed into a home in Stamford while armed with handguns and attacked the residents.

The incident was reported Monday just after 11:30 a.m. when police received a 911 call from a woman yelling that her husband was being attacked in their home on Dunn Avenue, according to the Stamford Police Department.

Police also received an alarm notification at the home as the call appeared to be dropped, police said. Arriving officers spoke to two residents who claimed that they were attacked by men wearing vests similar to those used by Amazon delivery drivers, according to police.

A man in the home said one of the men knocked on the door and said he had a package that required a signature. He said the intruder forced his way inside when he tried to close the door after accepting the package, according to police.

The man claimed that the individual was armed with a silver handgun, police said. He told police he yelled to his wife to call 911, saying they were being robbed, and told her to lock herself in a bedroom, according to police.

A second person in a delivery vest and armed with a black handgun then allegedly entered the home, police said. The homeowner told police he was struck in the face and head multiple times by one of the handguns held by the robbers.

As the man was allegedly being assaulted by one of the attackers, the other ran upstairs toward the man’s wife, police said. She told investigators she was able to call 911 before the intruder allegedly grabbed her by the neck, threw her onto the bed and placed a pillow over her head, according to police.

Both intruders allegedly fled when the man was able to activate the home’s panic system, which sounded off an audible alarm, police said. They were seen on foot heading toward Cedar Heights Road.

According to police, some officers responded to the home while others searched for the suspects.

As police were investigating, they received a report from someone who said they saw a “suspicious” man enter a nearby store and ask for water. The man was allegedly yelling at someone on the phone and was asking where someone was, according to police.

The witness saw the man get into a white vehicle and leave the area, police said. According to police, the caller was able to relay the license plate to officers.

Police found the vehicle on Cedar Heights Road and tried to conduct a motor vehicle stop, police said. The driver fled heading south on High Ridge Road and turned onto Bradley Place, according to police.

The driver stopped at a traffic detour where officers ordered two people out of the vehicle, police said. They were taken into custody and identified as 24-year-old Hayes Edmonds and 25-year-old Sam Oduor both of Georgia, according to police.

Inside the vehicle, police said they allegedly found two handguns. The victims were able to identify both men as the intruders, according to police.

The victims were taken to Stamford Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Edmonds and Oduor were both charged with home invasion, assault, firearms offenses, motor vehicle violations and interfering with a 911 call, police said. They were each held in lieu of $2 million bond and were arraigned on Tuesday in Stamford Superior Court.

According to court records reviewed Wednesday, both men remain in custody and are due back in court in March. Neither man has entered a plea.
