University of Washington study highlights health risks for some cannabis users

WASHINGTON STATE — A recent study by the University of Washington has shed light on the health challenges faced by cannabis users with psychotic disorders.

The study examined survey responses from more than 4,000 cannabis users across the state between 2020 and 2023.

Researchers discovered that individuals with psychotic disorders reported higher rates of physical issues, including nausea, vomiting and heart problems. They were also more likely to seek medical attention compared to other cannabis users.

Researchers emphasized the importance of targeted clinical support and awareness campaigns to help members of this group stay safe.
