The Green Remedy is set to open its doors in Montgomery on Saturday. Patients will be evaluated at the clinic before they can qualify for a medical marijuana card.

“We will pre-screen them to ensure that they actually do qualify,” said Chanel Rousseau, founder of The Green Remedy. “Most patients do know whether or not they qualify. There’s tons of conditions that Alabama has approved… like PTSD, chronic pain, autism, and depression.”

The clinic operates like a typical doctor’s office. Patients make appointments and are seen by qualified doctors before they can move forward in the process. Rousseau says The Green Remedy is the first cannabis clinic in Alabama.

“We chose this region because Alabama wanted it and the patients needed it,” Rousseau said. “We had so many inquiries as soon as the program was approved 5 years ago and all we could say was, ‘Sorry we have to wait until the laws are in place, we have to wait for the program.'”
