BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Vermont cannabis company has reached a settlement with the state over advertising policies that it claimed harmed sales.

Flora Cannabis last year took legal action against the Vermont Cannabis Control Board, saying the state’s strict rules for advertising, including the need to include lengthy health warnings, and bans on offering samples and prizes, violated free speech.
They also argued that the rules were unfair because they didn’t apply to other regulated vice markets like gambling, alcohol, or tobacco.
As a part of this month’s settlement, the CCB says it will change its guidance for dispensaries’ marketing abilities, among other concessions.
