New Delhi: Vice President of India,Jagdeep Dhankhar, said there is a global need to evolve and believe inenvironmental ethics. This underscores humans’ moral obligations to protect and preserve the environment.
While addressing the valedictory session of the two-day national conference on environment – 2025, organised by theNational Green Tribunalat Vigyan Bhawan on Sunday, Dhankhar said, “We have to be aware the planet is not exclusive to us. We are not its owners. Flora and fauna must flourish alongside all other living beings. In such a scenario, man must learn to live in harmony with nature and other living beings. Are we doing it? No… We must focus individually on the optimal utilization of natural resources.”
He added that the way he looks to NGT, N for nurturing, G for green, and T for tomorrow. “It is the vision of an institution that connects law, science, and ethics to transform our relationship with nature,” said Dhankhar.
Over the course of two days, this conference has brought together Supreme Court, High Court, District Court Judges, Secretaries of various ministries, and senior govt officers.
The resolutions and discussions will play a crucial role in shaping India’s environmental governance framework and will contribute to future national and international environmental initiatives.
