Dresden/Nîmes (France) (renewablepress) – VSB France, a company of the VSB Group and part of TotalEnergies, has commissioned its first wind farm in the French département of Puy-de-Dôme with Eoliennes de Tortebesse. The project marks an important milestone in the further expansion of onshore wind energy in France and underlines the role of the VSB Group as a reliable player in the European renewable energy market.

Located a few kilometres from the municipality of Tortebesse, the wind farm comprises 15 Vestas V110 turbines with a total installed capacity of 32.4 MW. With an expected annual production of 78 GWh, it supplies electricity to around 31,000 people and avoids approximately 23,000 tonnes of CO? emissions each year. Eoliennes de Tortebesse is currently the largest wind farm in operation developed by VSB France.

During the 15-month construction phase, VSB France focused strongly on regional value creation and worked closely with local partners. The project was fully financed by CIC Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIC CIB). In addition to project development, VSB France was also responsible for construction management as well as the technical and administrative operation of the wind farm.

“Projects such as Eoliennes de Tortebesse demonstreate how sustainable development, regional value creation and strategic partnerships can work successfully together. The combination of local expertise and international energy know-how is a key success factor for the energy transition in Europe,” explains

Dr Felix Grolman, CEO of the VSB Group.

“Eoliennes de Tortebesse is our first wind farm in Puy-de-Dôme and a significant milestone for VSB France,” adds Maël Lagarde, Managing Director of VSB France. “With 15 wind turbines, we are making a tangible contribution to the regional energy transition and showcasing the strong potential of the French onshore wind market for sustainable power generation.”

As part of TotalEnergies’ integrated power business, VSB makes an important contribution to expanding the Group’s renewable electricity generation. The objective is to achieve an annual net renewable power output of more than 100 terawatt-hours by 2030, supporting TotalEnergies’ strategy to deliver increasingly climate-friendly, reliable and affordable energy.?
