A “quantity of cannabis plants” has been found and destroyed by police following a raid in Worcestershire.

West Mercia Police made the discovery after executing a warrant on a industrial unit on the Sandy Lane Estate in Stourport on Thursday morning.

A force spokesperson said the plants, at various stages of maturity, had been supported by an “electrical rig”.

They added no one was inside the property at the time of the raid and no arrests had been made but enquiries are ongoing.

Sgt Matt Ling said: “We did find a grow and those plants have been removed to be destroyed now, disrupting this illegal drugs operation.

“Cannabis grows are often tied to organised crime groups, whose activities fuel further criminality, including modern slavery.

“Tackling these operations is vital to protecting our communities and keeping them safe from harm.”
