What you can expect at Greater Cincinnati’s first cannabis dry bar
March 25, 2025
COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) – The saying goes, “A good sign is a sign of good business.” When that sign is hand-painted, Bob Lockamy says it shows someone cares. His artwork adorning the windows of a new bar in Covington is helping bring Christain Perry-Watts’ vision to life.
But this isn’t your typical bar. The establishment won’t serve alcohol—instead, cannabis will be one of the main “spirits.”
“We wanted to create a place where people could relax and unwind without the pressures and stress associated with alcohol,” said Perry-Watt.
Her concept, The Green Door, will soon become the first cannabis dry bar in Greater Cincinnati.
“We’re offering infused mocktails, specialty mocktails, and classic drinks like a gin and tonic—but with an alternative spirit,” she explained. “We’ll feature THC infusions and adaptogens like lion’s mane and cava.”
The idea for The Green Door was born out of Perry-Watt’s experience with her hemp dispensary in Bellevue. “We noticed a growing demand for hemp-derived beverages in our stores,” she said.
With a background in the hemp industry, Perry-Watt understands the legal landscape in Kentucky, where marijuana is not yet legal. She elaborated, “When creating a spirit or tincture, you extract components from the plant. We’re focused on extracts that mimic the effects of alcohol, but we stay within the state’s regulations.”
While Perry-Watt is keeping the details of the bar’s interior a surprise, she shared that the prohibition era inspired part of her concept. “The green door symbolizes breaking down the stigma surrounding the cannabis industry. No passwords needed—just come find us.”
The Green Door will open its doors for a grand opening on the weekend of 4/20. The bar will be restricted to those 21 and older.
