Which Past/Present WWE Superstars Would Make Great American Gladiators? | Question Of The

May 14, 2025

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

It was announced this week that The Miz is going to host a reboot of the classic American Gladiators television show. Back in the day, I used to absolutely love that as a kid, as it was almost WWE-esque while still being a physical competition, like WWF mixed with Nickelodeon’s GUTS or something.

There’s always a chance some former professional wrestlers get cast on this show, as they have the athleticism, physical builds, and bombastic personalities to make for perfect characters, which are typically named things like Nitro, Storm, Blaze, Gemini, and so on.

My question for you today is “Which wrestlers, whether they’re on the current rosters or not, would make for great American Gladiators in this reboot?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

Obviously, I wouldn’t anticipate anyone from WWE’s current lineup to be on this show, as they’re already gainfully employed. But with all the releases that have happened over the past few years, and the chance they could have some current Superstars do guest appearances, at least a few names pop into my mind.

As far as current stars who would be good fits, even though again, I don’t think they would do it, Brutus Creed and Julius Creed would be a lot of fun. Chad Gable, too, for that matter. Bron Breakker would absolutely kill it and be unstoppable.

Imagine Karrion Kross in this role. Zoey Stark would work. Apollo Crews, if he weren’t injured. I wouldn’t want to mess with Drew McIntyre (let’s name him Ironclad; that’s campy and fun).

Bianca Belair would destroy this. Jade Cargill would look like a beast. Tiffany Stratton, c’mon.

Lots of NXT people would naturally fit, since there are NIL athletes and such in the mix. Zaria, for instance, comes to mind, along with Troy Yearwood from LFG, Tavion Heights, Harlem Lewis and Keanu Carver, etc.

But as I said, for obvious reasons, those aren’t going to happen, and the same goes for AEW roster members. We’d have to look at those who aren’t currently signed and aren’t too old for the project, or too banged up, like Braun Strowman.

When thinking about previous releases, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose come to my mind immediately.

Give a spot to Damon Kemp. Possibly consider Lacey Evans, if she’s still interested in doing athletic things instead of OnlyFans and her other business ventures, same as Rose.

Actually, Matt Riddle could be an interesting name for this. He’s might have a little too much personality, though. Same for Rick Boogs, who went off the deep end.

Maybe Duke Hudson? Baron Corbin? Giovanni Vinci? Eddy Thorpe possibly? Xyon Quinn, remember him?

Lastly, Mojo Rawley could be a guy to call up for this role, given his football background, how “hyped” he always was, and his loud persona.
