WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Wicomico County Health Department is educating the community on marijuana.

The department’s “Weeding Through Cannabis” seminar focuses on what drives marijuana use and teaches attendees about the impact it has on the brain and how to take healthier healing approaches.

Officials said this program is not to stigmatize marijuana, but instead to teach the community about some of the effects it can have on a person.

“We know that marijuana is a pretty popular topic, especially since it became legalized in Maryland in 2023, so we’re just wanting to provide the information to the community on how it can impact their brain and their bodies,” said overdose prevention coordinator, Julie Willis.
