The tender exceeded the original target of 5 GW.
Eight selected projects combine renewable generation with battery energy storage systems, adding more than 2.0 GW and 7.9 GWh of storage capacity to the grid.
In New South Wales, the selected wind projects include the 346 MW Baldon Wind Farm with a 132 MWh battery energy storage system, operated by Goldwind and Omni in Moulamein, the 300 MW Bullawah Wind Farm Stage 1 operated by BayWa in Hay South and the 1,498 MW Yanco Delta Wind Farm operated by Origin Energy in Moonbria.
Queensland projects include the 228 MW Banana Range Wind Farm operated by EDF Power Solutions in Banana, the 1,150 MW Bungaban Wind Energy Project with a 1,400 MWh battery system operated by Windlab in Bungaban and the 1,022 MW Theodore Wind Farm in Camboon developed by RWE.
Tasmania’s selected projects include the 341 MW Cellars Hill Wind Farm operated by Gamuda Renewables and Alternate Path in Bothwell.
In South Australia, the 289 MW Whyte Yarcowie Wind Farm operated by EDF Power Solutions was selected, while Victoria secured the 338 MW Willatook Wind Farm operated by Engie and the 72 MW Woolsthorpe Wind Farm operated by ICA Partners.
The remaining successful projects were solar and hybrid developments located across New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania.
The next tender round, Tender 9 – National Electricity Market Generation, opens on 25 May with an indicative target capacity of 5 GW. Bids close on 20 July 2026.
