World Environment Day, observed on 5 June, puts the spotlight on a reality communities around the world are already living. Climate change is reshaping lives: where people live, how they earn a living, and whether they can stay. Every day, families lose homes to floods and storms. Droughts destroy crops and livelihoods. Entire communities face the same risks again and again. This year’s theme, “Climate Action,” calls on all of us to act with greater urgency. The global observance is hosted by Azerbaijan in Baku.
