Meta Finally Brings Long-Awaited Feature to Threads Web Version

April 19, 2026

Meta has begun testing a long-anticipated update for the web version of its Threads platform, finally adding the Direct Messages (DMs) feature.

The new design introduces several shortcuts to the site’s left sidebar, including saved posts, “Insights,” activity, and the ability to navigate between different feeds.اضافة اعلان

While these features were previously available on the web, they were difficult to access. For instance, the only current way to reach “Insights” is by visiting the profile or pinning it as a dedicated column, according to a report by the tech news site Engadget.

Most importantly, however, the update finally adds an inbox to Threads on the web—a feature that had been unavailable to desktop users despite being present on the mobile app since last June.

It remains unclear when the new design will be officially rolled out, but Connor Hayes, the head of Threads at Meta, stated that the company has already begun testing it and plans to “invest more in this area in the future.”

The last major update to the Threads website occurred in April, adding basic functionalities. Since then, Meta has largely focused its efforts on the mobile app rather than the desktop site.

Currently, some new features, such as “disappearing posts,” can be viewed on the website but can only be created via the mobile application.
