Stewartville Amazon Delivery Station speeds up local deliveries

May 5, 2026

STEWARTVILLE, Minn. (KIMT) – The DXO5 Amazon Delivery Station located at 225 Prime Drive NW started operation on April 16th. Right now, it serves customers in a 50 mile radius.

The station currently delivers 2,000 packages a day, and expects to double that number by the end of the week with the addition of a new zip code. At peak operation, Amazon expects the DXO5 Delivery Station to deliver 50,000 packages a day.

“You can think of this as a ‘last mile’,” said Jason Vangalis, Head of Central U.S. Expansion & Economic Development Policy at Amazon. “So this carries all of the product that comes in from our ‘first mile’ facility like the one in Shakopee, and then it moves through a ‘middle mile’ site. Then it takes all of the product, and it lands here where it is distributed out to our customers.”

Mayor of Stewartville, Jimmie-John King, is thrilled to have Amazon in town.

“When you have a worldwide company like this that has the confidence to build in your community, it’s only a good thing. It’s a really good feeling to have them here. If they get up to 50,000 packages a day, I can’t imagine how many people they’re going to have here.” King said.

The facility currently employees 50 full time associates and 50 delivery drivers, supplemented by drivers from the Amazon Flex app.

“We have over 100 users of our Amazon Flex delivery app, which is essentially like delivering in your personal vehicle. So that’s what we’re working with right now, and we expect that number to double by the end of the month.” said Brian Cummings, Senior Station Manager of the DXO5 Delivery Center. “We’ve had a good time hiring, the community has been great so far.”
