Disneyland's 'Autopia' ride to go fully electric in 2027

ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) — Disneyland’s Autopia ride is preparing to go fully electric.

The resort has an agreement with the California Air Resources Board to retire the Tomorrowland ride’s current engines in early 2027.

“Work is underway on the design, engineering, and testing of a fully electric vehicle prototype, and we look forward to sharing more details soon,” park officials said.

Disneyland first announced their plans to replace the current gas-powered vehicles in 2024.

Autopia debuted with the opening of Disneyland in 1955 and quickly became popular among young guests.

The Walt Disney Co. is the parent company of this ABC station.
