Kia cuts EV6 prices by $5,000 on 2026 models

April 24, 2026

Kia’s electric SUV just got a bit more attractive. The 2026 EV6 is considerably cheaper than last year’s model, with up to nearly $5,500 in savings.

After Hyundai confirmed the standard IONIQ 6 would not return for a 2026 model year, many believed the Kia EV6 was headed for the same fate.

Despite the speculation, the 2026 model is finally here, and according to Car and Driver, it now starts at under $40,000.

The base 2026 Kia EV6 Light will start at $39,445, $4,950 less than the 2025 model. The 2026 EV6 Wind and GT-Line trims received a $5,450 price cut each and will start at $46,345 and $50,245, respectively.

While the lower prices are welcomed, one model is missing. The EV6 GT, Kia’s 650-hp electric sports car, is also delayed indefinitely, a company spokesperson confirmed to Car and Driver last month. When, or if, the EV6 GT will arrive remains up in the air.

Kia delayed several new EVs indefinitely, including the much-anticipated EV4, Kia’s first electric sedan (that’s also sold as a hatchback), and the three-row performance SUV, the EV9 GT.

Those in the US, however, will finally be able to order the EV3 later this year. The EV3 is an “entry-level EV SUV that offers many of the advanced amenities of the EV9” in a smaller, more affordable package.

The 2027 EV3 will be available with a flagship GT variant, alongside the standard Light, Wind, and GT-Line models.

Although Kia’s electric vehicle sales are picking up in most other markets, the Korean automaker has struggled to sell the EV6 in the US after the $7,500 federal tax credit expired at the end of September.

Through the first three months of 2026, Kia sold just over 2,000 EV6 models in the US, 46% fewer than in the same period last year.

As a more affordable, entry-level SUV, the EV3 is expected to attract a new market of buyers as an alternative to the Chevy Bolt EV and Nissan LEAF.

With the new 2026 models coming soon, Kia is offering a $10,000 customer cash discount on all 2025 EV6 and 2026 EV9 models. If you’re interested, you can find local deals and available models near you using the links below.
