LG Display secures automotive ASPICE Level 2 certification

June 2, 2026

LG Display has secured Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) Capability Level 2 from assessor C&BIS, covering displays for automotive instrument clusters and centre fascias. The result adds a formal software process credential to the company’s automotive portfolio, months after it became the first display manufacturer to obtain the ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity standard.

ASPICE is an international standard that evaluates software development processes across automotive supply chains, assessing whether systematic development practices are in place. Its importance has grown alongside the proliferation of electronic control units (ECUs) in modern vehicles: a single software defect in any ECU can trigger safety incidents or large-scale recalls, placing greater scrutiny on suppliers’ development methods.

The certification comes as the automotive industry moves from hardware-centric architectures toward software-defined vehicles, with in-vehicle displays evolving from information screens into software platforms covering infotainment and vehicle control. LG Display obtained ISO/SAE 21434, the international standard for automotive cybersecurity engineering, in December 2025, becoming the first display manufacturer to hold the designation. The company sees the ASPICE accreditation as supporting new business efforts, with North America among its target markets.

In a statement, Keuk-sang Kwon, Head of the Auto Business Group at LG Display, said: “Reaching ASPICE CL2 validates that LG Display’s automotive displays deliver not only hardware excellence but also high-quality software capabilities. We will continue to reinforce our leadership in the automotive display market based on our differentiated proprietary technologies and advance as a technology-driven company that proactively delivers customer value.”
