Meta Renews Redmond Leases
April 20, 2026
Meta Platforms Inc. has renewed leases for two buildings that cover roughly 146,000 square feet at Redmond’s Willow Creek Corporate Center, the Puget Sound Business Journal reported.
Much of the work at the Redmond site supports the company’s Reality Labs division, the group behind its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and virtual reality initiatives.
According to the article, CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently scaled back earlier ambitions tied to the Metaverse, and the company has made organizational changes within the hardware side of the unit, which included laying off 168 Washington employees in March — many of whom were connected to Reality Labs.
Meta is the third-largest tech employer in the Puget Sound area with about 8,000 employees, and the third-largest office user with approximately 2.3 million square feet.
In 2023, the company completed a 680,000-square-foot building in Redmond, and months later, it subleased 145,000 square feet in another Redmond property to Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems. Last fall, Meta also relinquished development rights for five planned office projects in Bellevue’s Spring District.
The article also noted that the company filed permits earlier this year to begin work on a previously empty office building in the Spring District, which may add another 212,000 square feet to its Eastside presence.
