Norwalk police seize over 5 pounds of cannabis products in crackdown of illegal sales

Police arrested two individuals in a crackdown on unlicensed cannabis sales, seizing over 5 pounds of products from two stores.

NORWALK, Conn. — Norwalk police said Monday that they arrested two people and seized over 5 pounds of cannabis products in a crackdown on illegal sales last week.

Police executed search and seizure warrants at Wally Convenience on Westport Avenue and Kings Tobacco on Main Street after determining that employees were allegedly selling marijuana products without state dispensary licenses.

During the first raid on May 12, investigators searched Wally Convenience and recovered approximately 4.15 pounds of cannabis products, including marijuana flower, vape cartridges and gummies. Police then arrested Emad Alawdi, 28, of Norwalk.

Alawdi faces charges including possession with intent to sell cannabis, operation of a drug factory and possession of cannabis over the legal limit. Bond was set at $50,000, with a scheduled court date of May 26.

Two days later, on May 14, officers executed the second search warrant at Kings Tobacco and Vape Shop. Authorities seized approximately 1.537 pounds of cannabis products, including flower, vapes and edibles.

Police arrested Sari Saleh, 20, of Brooklyn, N.Y. Saleh’s charges include possession with intent to sell cannabis and possession of cannabis over the legal limit. Bond was set at $1,000, and Saleh is scheduled to appear in court on May 27.

Police said both businesses were operating without licenses to legally sell cannabis products in Connecticut.
