TUSKEGEE, Ala. (WAKA) – The City of Tuskegee is getting a $400,000 grant for a new automotive supplier plant.

The announcement was made today by Gov. Kay Ivey. The plant is expected to hire 187 workers.

The Community Development Block Grant is from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It will pay for the infrastructure needed for the $163 million CPT America plant. The company is a tier one automotive supplier.

The facility will be built in Tuskegee Commerce Park near the Samkee auto parts production plant that opened in 2024.

“This is another big step forward for Tuskegee and Macon County in establishing a strong presence in the automotive industry,” Gov. Kay Ivey said. “This development will offer good-paying jobs for people of all skill levels in the industry. I am pleased to support this project and excited for the positive impact CPT America will have on the area.”

CPT America is a new company that will produce stamped metal components and assemblies for auto manufacturers. The city will use the grant funds to extend water and sewer infrastructure for use at the plant. The initial development will be a 350,000-square-foot facility. A potential second phase of the development would add an additional 700,000 square feet.

The city will contribute $263,466 to the project.
